This city offers the best of itself in the bathing season being classified among the best tourist centers of the province. The city, being located on a gulf has <strong>two beaches<\/strong>, one pebbly (to the west) and one sandy (to the east). It is also the <strong>starting point for all connections with the Aeolian Islands<\/strong>, through a hydrofoil and ferry service.<br \/>The most important monuments are the <strong>castle<\/strong> (seven city walls) and the ancient <strong>cathedral<\/strong>, which rises within its walls.
